Approach

No one approach can be overlaid upon communities. ion works with each community to adapt proven themes and governing principles to the specifics of the community and its unique attributes and challenges. ion community solutions approaches each community without an agenda in favor of a collaborative approach to develop tailored, personalized solutions that are accessible and responsive to partners and move toward the creation of new knowledge that will result in sustainable solutions.

ion incorporates a community development “best practices” approach for every project it undertakes. For each client, regardless of the “community” they represent - be it a neighborhood, district, non-profit organization, governmental or non-governmental organization, collaborative, or other - our approach for assessing the existing conditions and their needs is adaptable to the specifics of the project initiated. For many projects, measuring the quality of life of the “community” as engaged incorporates four common themes, including:

• the social environment

• the built environment

• the natural environment

• the health environment

Regardless of the scale of the project - small or large- location - urban or rural- ion incorporates four core governing principles.

collaboration

• sustainability and self-sufficiency

• inclusion

• clarity
